Dear Dr. Locker: How can I make condoms feel better to guys?
Answer from Dr. Locker
Condoms can decrease sensitivity for guys, so there are some things you can do to make condoms feel better. Try putting a drop of water based lubricant inside the condom before you roll it on. This should give the guy more enhanced feeling. Also, experiment with different types of condoms. Guys often report that the ones that feel the worst are the thick white opaque latex condoms. So they have to venture out to try new types. "Extra sensitive" latex condoms are thinner, and often feel much better to guys. They are still just as strong as any other latex condom, but they are the thinner and feel better. Also, try different shapes and sizes. You can find "contoured" condoms that may fit better. Another suggestion: instead of latex condoms, try polyurethane condoms, such as the brand "Avanti". They are made for people who have latex allergies. Any guy can use them, and many find that they feel thinner and conduct temperature better than latex condoms so they love them. The key is to experiment and learn what feels best to him.
