Dear Dr. Locker: If I've had oral or anal sex, am I still a virgin?
Answer from Dr. Locker
It’s most common to define virginity based on whether or not someone has had penis-vagina intercourse. If you’ve done everything but intercourse, then you certainly have sexual experience. You need to decide for yourself what virginity means to you. If you want to call yourself a virgin, or a technical virgin, or, if you don’t want to call yourself a virgin, that’s up to you. I don’t think that the most important thing is what you call yourself. What’s more important is that you are honest and open with certain people, like with your doctors, or a potential partner. So that they understand that you have had sexual experience, even if you call yourself a virgin.
